This afternoon, we held a grand welcome ceremony for Tarakanita students. The ceremony began with the singing of the national anthems of the two countries, followed by a welcome speech by the school’s principal. After that, Mr. Yeti, Principal of Tarakanita High School, gave his first impression of our students and praised us for our courtesy. After the ceremony, the students were given a chance to experience Japanese culture by our school’s flower arrangement instructor, who taught them how to do ikebana with our school students. It was impressive to see how interested, proactive, and active the international students were in this activity.

本日午後から、講堂にて中3と高2、高3を代表した学級生徒が短期留学生と引率教員を拍手でお出迎えし、盛大に歓迎セレモニーを行いました。
両国国歌の斉唱に始まり、本校校長の歓迎挨拶に続き、タラカニタ留学生引率代表のイエティ校長より本校生徒の第一印象として、礼儀正しい姿を称賛するご挨拶をいただきました。

今や人口世界第4位、経済成長著しいインドネシアと日本が互いを補完する関係として、将来に渡り様々な分野で交流を深めることでしょう。
そこで、本校では10年を迎えるこの留学生交流を始めとした「国際教育」をさらに発展させたいと考えます。
それは、20年後、30年後のグローバル社会を見据えた人材交流を視野に入れているからなのです。

さて、セレモニーの後は、日本文化に触れるということで、本校華道講師先生の手ほどきで、本校生徒と一緒に「生け花」にチャレンジしました。
留学生たちは興味を持って、主体的・積極的に参加していたことが印象的でした。これは、本校生徒が大いに刺激を受けた場面でした。
