September 27th is the anniversary of our school founding. The school was founded by Shizuo Suruga sensei, and it is on this day we renew our resolve. A century ago, he saw a girl crying who had failed one of her school’s exam. He was terribly saddened by this. Upon seeing the girl crying, he formed the idea that the prosperity and happiness of families cannot be achieved without the education of girls. This idea help form the very foundation of our school, and it is why our school motto includes sincerity, respect, and courtesy. We aim to become a school that produces internationally educated members of society.

本日9月27日（水）は、本校創立者 校祖 摺河静男先生の祥月命日に当たることから、この日を「校祖祭」と呼び、校祖先生のご遺徳を偲ぶとともに、全校生徒は本校で学ぶ意味を再確認し、またその決意を新たにする日としています。朝のHR時に、教職員・全校生徒は全員起立し、「建学の庭」に建つ校祖先生の銅像に向かい黙祷を捧げた後、全校放送を通して、校長先生による講話がありました。

建学の精神「地域社会の要求に応じ、新しい国家社会の建設と、望ましい家庭生活を創造しうる有能な女子を育成する」が生まれた背景は、大正デモクラシーのもと女子教育の振興が求められるなか、校祖先生が県庁に勤務していた春3月、たまたま某女学校の前を通った折、入学試験に不合格となり泣き帰る小学生を見られ、いたく心痛されました。そこで、国家社会、家庭の繁栄幸福は女子の啓蒙教育をおいてはありえないとの考えから、一念発起し教育の道を志され、大正10年4月、独力で姫路市光源寺前町に共愛裁縫女学校を設立されました。

校祖生誕131年となった現在においても、建学の精神を柱に「誠実・敬愛・礼節」を校訓として、本校は新たな時代に応じた「国際教養人」をめざす教育の方向を示していきます。新たな大事業を成し得る実行力とともに、使命感に導かれながらも多くの辛苦を経験されたであろう校祖 摺河静男先生と校母 摺河ウメ先生が二人三脚で創り上げられた本校を誇る、とても厳かな一日です。
